A poem…

When life

Rears its

Illmatic

Horns,

I want

To laugh.

Tempests do

Enough

To make a

Heart want

To burst.

Love is

My own

Fiction.

If I give you

A ruby,

Will you

Eat it?

Show me a

New dance,

So that

Fuzzy

Lightbugs

Accompany

Our nights,

And glowing

Embers

Crackle in

Our beaten

Hearts.

Tell me a story

About your

Home,

I’d like to

Go there

To see the

Birds singing

In the meadow.

You say it is

A chamber

Of alabaster

Filled with crystals

And dancing fairies,

What a

Place to shoulder

The burden!

When this cross

Is too heavy,

Where do I turn?

When I feel forgotten

And lost,

Where can I hide?

When all the world

Rages like a herd

Of bellowing bulls,

I find my peace

In you.

In the desert where

The monsters lurk

I grip on tight

To you,

Making this horse

Go faster,

Turning up clods

Of sand with

Iron hooves.

All the lyres and

Harps

That accompany

You

Make a fool

Tremble with

Joy.

Do not leave

My clutched

Fists as

Grains of

Sand

Through the

Cracks,

Be a bed of

Rock to

Endure

The villain of

Change.
